DryDrinker non-alcoholic beers review
Club Soda member Hugo recently received a case of alcohol-free beers from our friends over at Dry Drinker. As part of his mission to find the best non-alcoholic lager, Hugo reviews and shares his thoughts on some beers that you may not be familiar with.
A cut above the average alcohol-free pils. Decent balance of flavours, and pleasantly malty. One to try. 7/10
Not unpleasant, not hugely memorable. Super Bock’s alcohol-free stout is a better bet, slightly smokey and pleasantly sweet. 6/10
Decent stuff. Definitely shares some of the DNA of with-alcohol Budvar. 7/10
A bit thin and anonymous. I didn’t find much going on at all, but at least it’s not actually offensive. 6/10
These invariably ended up getting left to last in the fridge. Thin, unexceptional German alcohol-free lager. 5/10
Krombacher has a lot more character going on than most – the nose is really quite like a ‘full fat’ alcoholic Becks which is impressive, and it has a nice nuttiness to it, though the taste is a bit sweet. A goodie. 8/10
I have to bang the drum for this stuff – it’s by far the best 0.0% lager out there, and also better than any 0.5% I’ve tried. Everything you want from a lager – light and crisp, good balance of flavour, and none of the unpleasant, sweet vegetal weirdness that is the downfall of many alcohol-free beers. It’s the overall winner for me! 9/10
