As you may have heard, Club Soda organised the UK’s, if not the World’s, first Mindful Drinking Festival on 13 August 2017, at Bermondsey Square in South London. We did this in association with Eisberg Alcohol Free Wine, with the support of our sponsors: Heineken® 0.0, Fentimans, Big Drop Brewing, Real Kombucha, Botonique and Highland Spring, and with the help of Bermondsey Square Hotel.
It wouldn’t have been possible without the nearly 30 drinks producers and retailers who took part, the street food and other stalls, the musicians, our lovely volunteers who worked tirelessly from dawn till dusk to make it all go smoothly – and all the over 2,500 people who came! We honestly weren’t expecting that many people to turn up, but we are glad they came.

You can browse the photos from the event in the carousel above, or see them all at Flickr. By the way: the gentleman with the gold chains next to Laura is Councillor Charlie Smith, the Mayor of Southwark who came to open the Festival, and went round to meet all the drinks and also tried them all we believe!
Video and radio
WinkBall were also there to film the event – you can watch their highlights video above or at this link – as well as interviews with Laura, our friend Alistair from Thor Drinks, and our special guest from Amsterdam, Heineken’s Master Brewer Willem who explains how he created their new alcohol-free beer. And the event was also covered by BBC Radio 4 You and Yours programme – you can listen to the six minute clip below:
Media and goody bags
Even if you couldn’t be there on the day, you can still grab yourself a piece of the event. We have some of the Mindful Drinking Festival goody bags left over and you can buy one from our online shop. You can either get just the tote bag with the Festival programme (listing all the drinks at the event), or the whole package: the tote bag, two special Festival glasses, the programme, and a small soft drink taster can!
We don’t want lack of money to be an obstacle stopping anyone from changing their drinking habits. So the Festival was free for everyone to attend and try all the different non-alcoholic drinks before buying. Similarly, Club Soda membership is based on “Pay What You Want”. Everyone can join for free, and benefit from the content on the website, our behaviour change tools, and the online community. But we ask those who can pay to make a contribution to ensure that we can carry on doing this. You can read more here and make a donation in our online shop – either a one-off donation or a recurring monthly payment.
